The Board of Control for Cricket in India, wrote letter to ECB(England Cricket Board) to change Pataudi Trophy, into Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy.
Based on latest developments, BCCI said ECB didn’t take their permission to change the name of Trophy into Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy which is not officially confirmed yet.
BCCI insider while talking to distinct media outlets stated ” We haven’t expressed any desire to change the name of Pataudi Trophy into Tendulkar-Anderson trophy as its their internal call we don’t have any say in it”
“In the letter, they mentioned that in case you have planned to rename Pataudi Trophy into Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy, so in that place you are planning to change it then keep individual awards name in his name” said BCCI in the letter shared to ECB.
The Upcoming India vs England Test Series will mark the beginning of Next World Test Championship cycle from 2025-2027 onwards where Men in Blue will start their campaign against Three Lions in Leeds.
India have to play extraordinary cricket in order to emerge winner of the Upcoming series and the biggest way India can register victory against Three Lions where they need to go under their skin, to win this contest against England.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India, is also not happy, with ICC(International Cricket Council) expressing their dissatisfaction, where most WTC Final are held in England it all started with Southampton in 2021, Oval in 2023 and Lords in 2025 where the next two cycle final is already fixed till 2029.
BCCI is not happy why most Final matches in WTC Final is held in England, as Indian Cricket board have all major stadiums in their arsenals with world class infrastructure, broadcasting quality and miscellaneous reasons where all WTC Final is being held on consistent basis.
There is an ICC annual meeting to be held in July in Singapore, where BCCI might pitch this and ask for ICC to get hosting rights for WTC Final to be held in 2029 onwards.
BCCI have world class stadiums where more fans would come in huge number to support their team, there is still global exposure which is needed to organize marquee event.
Indian Test Cricket is undergoing transition where Gill would be talking leadership responsibility especially after retirement from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in Test Cricket.
Team India batting lineup is pretty inexperienced, as some of the players have hardly tour England in the past when it comes to Indian Bowling it is pretty experienced in nature including the likes of- Jasprit Bumrah, Md Siraj, Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep who can torment any batting lineup in the world.
Overall, England are favorites to win this contest, considering heavy batting and bowling lineup and wonderful captaincy from Ben Stokes who can tactically outsmart any opposition in their own conditions.
