WTC Final: South Africa Beats Australia to Win World Test Championship

The World Test Championship Final has been concluded now with South Africa being crowned as new World Test Champions as they defeated Australia by 5 wickets.

Several memorable performances came from Proteas but the innings of substance which stole all the limelight came from Aiden Markaram who scored 136 runs from 207 balls at 65.70 strike rate.

The other innings from substance came from skipper Temba Bavuma who scored 66 runs from 134 balls and the knock came in absolute pain where he suffered from Injury.

The bowling performances from Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and others came in handy where they didn’t let mighty Aussie to make comeback in the contest.

There were flashes of brilliance came from some of the performances from Steven Smith 60 runs in 1st innings and Beau Webster scored 72 runs in the second innings most Australian batters failed however the contribution from Cummins who clinched 6 wickets in 1st innings will be remembered for sure.

There have been captaincy lapses at his end too but as they say, Winners don’t do different things they do things differently, the same thing could be said for Proteas team who stick to their basics and made sure that they win this contest against Australia.

With this victory they have successfully managed to break Chokers Tag, as team showed brilliance on most occasions but couldn’t capitalize further when it was needed.

They have successfully stepped aside all the demons now where they broke the shackle after winning ICC Test Champions once that shackle is broken next in line what they need to do is simply replicate those performances in times to come.

South Africa won this title under Tembe Bavuma, who faced several criticism after he was appointed leader replacing Faf Du Plesis.

Bavuma didn’t lose single match under his leadership in this entire WTC Cycle from 2023-2025 and he deserve praise for it.

The South African Cricket Team will derive huge confidence from this win and certainly would replicate this confidence in times to come especially when every team is competing for any ICC event right from 2023 to 2031.

Aiden Markaram as batter have been phenomenal in this recently concluded match where he said “I was disappointed when I got out Cheapely in 1st innings, but wanted to make sure that I make the most out of it in 2nd innings which I did and also credit should be given to our skipper Temba Bavuma who stick on other end and eazed out pressure on me”

Kevin Pietersen was quick to acknowledge the fact that Knock played by Aiden Markaram considering the context of the game is the best knock played by any South African batter so far.

Captain Temba Bavuma received standing ovation from the crowd where he spoke about variety of topics related to South African Cricket but one statement from him touched everyone’s heart where he said ” Despite all the differences we have in our country and ecosystem, I am glad that people would be happy to celebrate this victory with their love ones today”

Finally South Africa have managed to break chokers tag to lift ICC event and the kind of player they have in their arsenal they would certainly go on to win many more titles in future.

The credit should be given to entire South African management and former players who have contributed big time in inspiring next generation of players and coach shuki should be credited for eazing out pressure on players and making sure Proteas win this title.

Shukri’s abilty to motivate his side by giving them prep talk and telling that any score Australia would make in 2nd innings we will chase that out with ease certanly lifted the morale of all players.
