The Indian Premier League is all set to start from 22nd March 2025 where 10 teams are competing against each other for the prestigious title.
The most talked about team is none other than Royal Challengers Bangalore and one men who have always been center of attraction is none other than Virat Kohli.
Kohli would certainly looking to win maiden title for RCB as he is almost verging at the penultimate end of his career.
Kohli will reunite with his Under 19 World Winning team member Tanmay Srivastava who will making his debut as an umpire in the upcoming season.
Very few people would be aware about this fact, Srivastava was leading run scorer for India in the final against South Africa in 2008, post that he received contract from Kings X1 Punjab now rebranded as Punjab Kings.
However he couldn’t excel as player in IPL, ultimately decided to retire from Cricket in the year 2020 when he was merely 30 years old.
He discussed his decision with BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla where he stated “I informed about my decision to Rajiv Shukla sir and he was shocked too as I was only 30 years old. I told him that I am looking to pursue my career in Cricket going not as player”.
He further added “Happy that BCCI runs Umpiring program for players who can still be part of the panel as they want young people step in and do their officiating duties”.
He completed his Level 2 Umpiring program initiated by BCCI, and became Umpire.
He also concluded by stating that “I am still in touch with Virat but somehow I need to decide for myself so being practical anything related to fielding coach or umpiring was best option for me and I am glad that I made that choice”.
It would be interesting to witness his reunion with Virat Kohli in upcoming IPL season.
