Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma have officially divorced following their final hearing on March 20, 2025. The mandatory six-month cooling period in the Hindu Marriage Act was waived off as per the Bombay high court directive, and an agreed alimony of INR 4.75 crore was paid as settlement by Chahal to his ex-wife.
The couple had been dealing with relationship issues for some time now, and their separation had been a topic of discussion in the media.
Choreographer and dentist Dhanashree has featured in a new song that delves into toxic relationships. Titled “Dekha Ji Dekha Maine”, the song was released on March 20 and currently is on the verge of reaching 1 million views.
What has made their divorce news even more dramatic was Dhanashree’s unpredictable decision to release a song on the same day. The song ironically is on the theme of infidelity, complexities of love and betrayal in marriage, and it stars her alongside actor Ishwaq Singh from Paatal Lok.
In the music video, Dhanashree’s character is heartbroken because of her husband’s unfaithfulness. The song immediately caught people’s attention and netizens were quick to link it to her real-life story.
Fans believe that the timing of the song was too perfect to be a coincidence. Their individual characters were up for being dissected by social media users in the comments section of both individuals.
As reported earlier, the Bombay High Court had earlier directed the Bandra Family Court to speed up the divorce process due to Chahal’s commitments to IPL 2025. He is set to play for the Punjab Kings as the tournament begins from March 22.
Yuzvendra and Dhanashree tied the knot in December 2020 but separated in 2022. Off late, rumours about Chahal’s personal life amidst growing closeness with RJ Mahvash, have sent the gossip mills buzzing.
As of now, neither Chahal nor Dhanashree have made any official statements about the real reason for their divorce. While some fans have expressed support to Dhanashree and believe that her new song is a way of expressing her inner pain, others have criticized her for making the breakup public and dramatic.
Talking about the song, Dhanashree Verma said in a statement, “This was one of the most emotionally charged performances I’ve been a part of. Every actor always wants to showcase their ability while playing such a character, and this one demanded a certain level of intensity when it came to performance. It has been a pleasure to shoot with the T-Series team, and everyone has put in tremendous effort. I hope it resonates just as deeply with the audience.”
