Ahead of SRH vs RCB Clash, Pat Cummins Speaks About his Favourite Memory of Virat Kohli

In Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match no. 41 Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be facing Pat Cummins’ Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. There’s a lot of respect between these two cricketing superstars, but Pat Cummins couldn’t resist a playful jab when asked about his favourite memory of Virat Kohli.

Captains Speak, Cummins Jokes

During a pre-match interview, Cummins, the Australian captain who led them to the 2023 World Cup victory, was asked a few questions about Kohli. He acknowledged Kohli’s dedication to the game, praising his consistent intensity on the field: “Someone who has played so much cricket, I admire him for how much he gets up for every game and gets into the contest, whether he is batting or in the field. He plays 100 days a year and he’s up for every single of those games,”

A World Cup Wicket Never Forgotten?

Now, things might get a little interesting here. Remember the 2023 World Cup Final? Cummins played a key role in Australia’s win, and guess who he dismissed? Yep, Virat Kohli himself. Kohli’s wicket for 54 was a turning point in the match, and Australia went on to win by a comfortable margin. Perhaps with that dismissal fresh in his mind, Cummins decided to have some fun when asked about his “favourite memory” of Kohli.

“Can I say when I get him out?”

Cummins’ reply was short and sweet, but packed a playful punch: “My favorite memory of Virat? Can I say when I get him out?” He even added a smile to show it was all in good jest.

A Rivalry on and Off the Field?

Don’t worry, there’s no bad blood between these two cricketing giants. Cummins assured everyone that while they’re fierce competitors on the field, things are chill when the match ends. “We both get super competitive on the field, but off the field, Virat’s pretty relaxed, and so am I,” he said.

Virat Kohli Leading the Way

Coming back to the upcoming match, Kohli is currently the leading run-scorer in the IPL with a whopping 379 runs in just 8 matches. He even scored a century and two fifties, with an impressive average of over 63 and a mind-blowing strike rate of over 150.

So, will Kohli add another amazing performance to his name, or will Cummins manage to repeat his World Cup feat and dismiss Kohli once again? This IPL match promises to be a thrilling battle between two cricketing greats, with a healthy dose of friendly competition thrown in.
