The kit, consisting of 20 cricket bats and shoes, was handed over by the Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, in a ceremony that symbolized the strengthening of bilateral relations through the sport of cricket.

More than just handing over the kit, I believe it is the start of a better and bigger relationship that Nepal Cricket requires.”

Rohit Paudel, the captain of Nepal’s national cricket team, echoed these sentiments, acknowledging the crucial role that BCCI plays in global cricket. He emphasized the potential for a closer relationship with India, stating, “In cricketing terms, I would say, India is the best team right now. We, as a cricket growing country, believe that if we get an opportunity to play against them or they mentor the team, it would be a great exposure for all of us.”

Paudel further expressed his hope for more interactions with the Indian team, noting the significant impact playing against India has had on Nepal’s cricketing journey. He concluded by thanking the Indian Embassy for their generous gift and expressed the desire for continued collaboration.

Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava assured the Nepal cricket team that this was just the beginning of a journey toward greater achievements in cricket. He recognized the timely arrival of the cricket bats as Nepal prepares for upcoming qualifiers, stating, “The cricket bats have come at the right time as you prepare for the qualifiers in a few days’ time. To me, it seems like a very good signal. These bats represent the start of a journey between the Indian Embassy and the Nepali cricket team as you develop your own strength and compete with the best in the world.”

The cooperation and support extended by the Indian Embassy and the expressed desire for further engagement between the Nepali and Indian teams hold the promise of mutual growth and learning in the sport. With the passion for cricket running deep in both nations, this partnership is poised to create exciting opportunities for cricket in the region, benefitting players, fans, and the spirit of the game itself.

As the Rhinos gear up for their upcoming cricket qualifiers, the gift from India is not just a set of cricket bats but a symbol of a flourishing friendship and a brighter future for Nepal’s cricketing endeavours. With the momentum gained from this gesture, the Rhinos are ready to face the challenges and reach new heights on the cricket field.
